Veo Technologies has revolutionised the world of sports with its AI-powered video technology, enabling sports clubs around the world to record, analyse and share matches without the need for camera operators. Coaches and players use the platform to improve performance through data and video analysis, and with more than 4 million matches recorded and 40,000 clubs across 116 countries, demand continues to grow rapidly.
To maintain its pace of innovation, Veo has now taken a major step forward by developing dedicated GPU-based AI infrastructure designed to accelerate the development of the next generation of AI models for sports analysis. With a growing need for high GPU compute capacity, Veo selected Sentia and Dell Technologies to provide the underlying infrastructure.
AI that sees, understands and reacts in real time
Behind Veo’s distinctive green cameras is a range of advanced AI models that control camera angles, panning and zooming, detect important match events such as goals and half-time, track every player on the pitch and even recognise shirt numbers. Developing these systems requires extensive GPU capacity, and demand continues to increase as Veo pursues its ambitions to develop new features, expand into additional sports and launch its technology in more markets.
With its own AI cluster design and GPU architecture complementing its existing cloud strategy, Veo is able to handle even the most demanding AI workloads. Dedicated GPU resources provide Veo with significantly greater compute capacity while also giving the company full control of the infrastructure.
"At a time when technology and AI play a crucial role in the sports industry, access to efficient GPU compute is essential. The strategy of building our own AI compute cluster has given us a significant advantage and enabled us to begin developing far more ambitious products, ultimately helping make highly advanced sports technology accessible to clubs at all levels around the world."
- Helge Jacobsen, Manager of AI Operations, Veo Technologies
The business impact for Veo has already translated into tangible competitive advantages, as the platform has paved the way for a higher level of product innovation. As an additional benefit, the use of sustainable data centre technology means the solution is powered by 100% renewable electricity, while surplus heat is supplied to the Danish district heating network.
En platform bygget til fremtiden
To ensure a reliable and scalable foundation for the new AI infrastructure, Veo selected an AI solution from Sentia and Dell Technologies. Sentia provides a robust data centre environment with managed firewalls, networking, security and monitoring - all critical to keeping the GPU platform running while Veo focuses on development and innovation.
"Veo’s innovative AI solutions for the world of sports require a robust and secure foundation. The high demands for compute capacity and secure operations are a perfect match for Sentia’s data centres, and Sentia looks forward to supporting Veo’s global growth ambitions.
- Kim Lars Jakobsen, Chief Technical Officer, Sentia
With the new AI infrastructure, Veo can develop models faster, reduce training times and launch even more advanced AI capabilities. The platform is designed to scale alongside Veo’s growth and provides the foundation for the coming years of innovation within automated video analysis and sports data.
