FLUID: The road to scalability and faster time-to-market

Since 2020, a Danish software provider has relied on a professionally managed network as the foundation for running its business. This has removed the administrative burden of maintaining network connections, routing and firewalls, operating systems, hardware replacement and more, allowing the ISV to focus instead on innovating its software platform. Today, the company uses an advanced public cloud infrastructure to create tangible business benefits for its SaaS platform.

A simplified and fully managed public cloud setup

With several large Danish companies using its SaaS platform, the ISV is experiencing continued growth - and increasing demand also means a greater need for capacity. The company’s strategy is therefore driven by an ambition to become 100% public cloud-native for its proprietary software, RubiqCloud, creating a more scalable platform.

We are constantly working to ensure a more scalable platform and improve customer management, enabling our customers to grow seamlessly with RubiqCloud and expand their businesses.
- Niels C. Møller, CEO, Fluid

Moving away from its previous private cloud solution, the ISV faced a migration scenario involving a number of Windows servers being moved to Microsoft Azure. Following a successful migration with no impact on customers, the outsourced operating model meant the ISV could consolidate its business-critical software on a single infrastructure platform in a managed public cloud setup.

With operations fully managed by Sentia, the software provider can instead dedicate resources to its core business rather than operational tasks such as monitoring, patching, logging, capacity management, licensing and performance management.

As part of the transition, our cloud experts also identified opportunities to optimise the ISV’s IT resources by rightsizing them to actual consumption while reducing the risk of insufficient capacity.

Containerisation optimises the development process

With the infrastructure successfully migrated to Azure, the target architecture based on Azure Kubernetes was within reach. The modernisation provided the right foundation for the ISV, which, following the successful implementation of Kubernetes, could realise the business benefits of containerisation across its SaaS platform:

  • Faster and more efficient development and deployment cycles
  • Extensive scalability
  • Easier provisioning of resources
  • Improved resource utilisation and performance
  • High availability and improved business continuity
When it comes to our deployment capabilities, we have gone from a timeframe of weeks to now being able to deploy within just a couple of hours, meaning we can bring new services to our customers much faster.
- Troels Nielsen, Director of Software Strategy & Development, Fluid

The overall solution has delivered a strategic boost to the business-critical data and consent management platform, allowing Fluid to focus on the continued development and optimisation of RubiqCloud. This success has also paved the way for the future, with Fluid now extending its public cloud strategy to all other customer-facing applications in its portfolio.
